Mammoth Tank Weathered by Defibulator Mammoth Tank Weathered by Defibulator
I have been promising a picture of my Mammoth Tank after the weathering process, and here it is. The model is still not completed, since I have to add a ton of stowage to it. I just have not gotten around to buying any stowage kits and I do not feel like making the stowage out of my surgical gauze which I need for my First Aid kits. I am still finding stowage to add to my other models. The kit is based on Bandai's 1/35 M61A5 which I converted into a GDI Mammoth Tank from Command and Conquer.

AWESOME! Been wanting to build a Mammoth forever, easily my favourite bigger fictional tank :D rockin job! You make any sort of project log, or can you tell us what the base model was that you used, even others you kitbashed?

I'm glad that you like it!

I did not make a project log, thought I do have other images of this kit on my page, prior to the weathering process.

The base kit was Bandai's 1/35 M61A5, which I purchased off of Ebay for about $120. I modified the commander's chair inside of the turret (which you cannot see), and scratch-built missile tubes from plastic tubing, banded together with thin sheet styrene, and bonded with super glue. I also used spare parts from a 1/35 Dragon Sherman Firefly kit to mount the missile launchers to the side of the turret. Finally, I replaced the kit's fictional .50 Commander's gun with an M2 Browning from an M3 Halftrack. I also modified the figure on the right of the picture by sculpting a Canadian tanker's helmet out of green stuff putty.

This kit is still not technically finished, since I have to add all sorts of stowage. That will happen eventually, but I ran out after I put stowage on my other tanks. I could scratch-build stowage as I have with other kits, but I have not had the time. I will get around to adding the stowage this summer or whenever.

how did you apply the GDI falcon?

It was easy, actually. I just looked at a picture of it and free-hand drew it with an HB pencil. I started by tracing the outer edge of a Quarter to ensure that both emblems would be the same size, and followed by hand drawing the eagle. Then, I mixed the green which I used to paint the model, added a touch of black to darken it, and then free-hand painted the emblem, as I did not have an airbrush at the time. Every aspect of the model was fun, but the emblem and the missile launchers are VITAL to the identification of the vehicle as a Mammoth Tank. I was grinning the entire time.

I have not played COD Black ops 2, but I can say that it is not. This is based on Bandai's 1/35 scale M61A5, modified to be a Mammoth Tank from "Command and Conquer Tiberium Dawn."

Actually the model is the Type 61 Tank [link] from the GUNDAM anime. Defibulator just painted it in GDI colors and logo.

It's a Mammoth Tank from Command & Conquer Tiberium Dawn. Westwood designed the Apocalypse Tank after the Mammoth Tank was already famous.
